Shaping the next generation
of electro-mobility

Electrification of Aircraft and Automobiles Graduate schooL of ToulousE

EA2GLE is a world-class Graduate school, aligned with industry needs, whose objectives are to attract, raise awareness, and provide training in air and road electromobility. Comprising two universities, six engineering schools and four doctoral schools, EA2GLE ambition is to train the next generation of engineers and PhDs who will shape the carbon-free mobility of tomorrow.

Selected by experts and an international jury, EA2GLE is a laureate of the France 2030 plan which aims to develop industrial competitiveness and future technologies.

Our vision

Road transport accounts for approximately 16% of global CO₂ emissions, while aviation contributes around 2.5%, highlighting the critical importance of decarbonizing transportation to reduce global carbon emissions*. Electrification is a key solution for decarbonizing transport by reducing reliance on fossil fuels and enabling the use of low-carbon energy. Alongside other complementary solutions such as hydrogen, Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) and alternative fuels, it plays a major role in the transition toward more sustainable mobility.EA2GLE offers training curricula to students studying electronic engineering or electrical engineering. It trains students from Bachelor’s to PhD level who wish to learn about electrification for more sustainable mobility. It offers complete courses or specialized teaching units. Some courses are taught in French, others in English.

TOPICS & PILARS

Here are the main teaching and research topics at our Graduate school.

Full electric or hybrid powertrain

High efficiency and high power density motors used in electric – or hybrid – cars and aircraft. Motors used in propulsion and other functions. Design, modelling and control strategy.

Embedded power electronic

Embedded power electronic design and control. Converters operating during the mission or when the vehicle is stationary (battery chargers, ground power units…)

Embedded electronic

Embedded electronic devices and softwares. Compact, high-performance, reliable and last a long time on poor power sources, all while sensing and influencing their surroundings.

Embedded energy sources

Batteries, supercapacitors and fuel cells used as energy embedded sources. Design, energy-power capacity and lifetime. Hybridation strategy.

Thermal management

Thermal management in electric actuators and static converters (active and passive components). Cooling technics. Advanced thermally conductive materials.

New components and materials

High efficiency components with high switching frequencies. High voltage new packaging. New materials (insulators, dielectrics, magnetic) that offer high reliability under harsh conditions.

Electrical and Electronic architecture

Structured organization of all electrical, electronic, and software systems, along with their interactions (sensors, control units, networks, actuators, embedded software). Energy, data, and software flows ensuring proper operation, performance, and overall system safety.

Ecodesign - Circularity

Integration of environmental considerations into the design of embedded electrical equipment across the entire life cycle: materials, manufacturing, use and end-of-life. Development of new highly functional bio-based materials. Reuse, repair, remanufacturing and recycling.

Industrial parternships

EA2GLE works closely with world famous industrial partners, enabling it to offer programs that are directly aligned with current industry needs and expected competencies. Through these strong collaborations, students benefit from practice-oriented training, exposure to real-world challenges and skills development that matches the demands of cutting-edge aircraft and automobiles sectors.

Labs & technological facilities

EA2GLE is closely connected with world leading research laboratories and organisms at the forefront of transportation electrification fundamental and applied research. This strong scientific environment enables PhD candidates to conduct research on key electrification challenges, contributing to the removal of scientific as well as technological barriers. In addition, the consortium’s advanced technological platforms provide students with early exposure to industrial realities and hands-on experience throughout their academic curriculum.

Recognized teaching curricula

The institutions of EA2GLE Graduate School deliver international recognized Master’s, Engineers and PhD degrees controlled and evaluated by the French government that meet the highest academic and professional standards. In addition, its six Engineering schools hold the EUR-ACE label, a prestigious accreditation based on the quality criteria defined by the European Network for Accreditation of Engineering Education (ENAEE). This recognition guarantees excellence in engineering education and ensures that graduates acquire internationally recognized competencies aligned with industry and research expectations.

2026 SHANGHAI Global ranking of Academic subjects

EA2GLE institutions are included in the Shanghai Ranking’s Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS) in five subjects: Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Remote Sensing  and Artificial Intelligence. GRAS is based on nine objective indicators grouped into five categories: World-Class Faculty, World-Class Research Output, High-Quality Research, Research Impact, and International Collaboration

Quality of students welcome

The label “ Bienvenue en France”, awarded by Campus France, recognises the quality of support provided to international students. It recognises EA2GLE higher education institutions that have developed support schemes for international students. It certifies the quality and accessibility of information, support schemes, the range of courses on offer, academic support, accommodation, the quality of campus life and post-graduation support. Moreover, Toulouse ranks 1st in the 2025 and 2026 ranking of the best student cities by the famous magazine: l’Etudiant !
